Patriot Day - Friday, September 11, 2009
On that dreadful day, nearly 3,000 people died. The loss of life and damage that the terrorist caused resulted in the biggest act of terrorism ever on US soil.
Although not a national holiday, annually September 11 is observed by many as “Patriot Day”, a day to remember those who were injured or died during the terrorist attacks on America.
On the direction of the President and as a mark of respect, the US Flag should be unfurled and flown at half-staff on homes, businesses, and government buildings throughout the country.
In addition to the Flag, some observe a moment of silence at 8:46AM EST, which marks the time that the first plane flew into the World Trade Center.
