Mayor Van W. Johnson, Sr., is serving his first term as Mayor of
Historic Apalachicola. Mayor Johnson is a native and lifelong
resident of the City.
His top priorities as Mayor are:
- A Growth Management Plan & Task Force
- Hiring of a Professional City Manager
- Code of Ethics for City Commission and appointed Boards
- City Vehicle Use Policy
- Accountable, Efficient, and Effective City Government
- Preserving the Historic beauty of our City
- Providing top-notch Citizen Services
Before being elected Mayor, He spent 10-years as the Seat 3,
City Commissioner for Apalachicola. As a Commissioner he
supported the development of Scipio Creek Marina, High Cotton
Marketplace and Water Street Hotel and Marina.
Mayor Johnson is looking forward to continuing his service as
the new Mayor of Apalachicola and welcomes the community to
get involved and stay informed with the activities of their local
government.
